VISION
I worked for other CPA tax firms in Marin for seventeen years (the Old World) before starting my own firm in 2019. I had been think-tanking about what the perfect tax firm would look like – ideal in terms of workplace environment and customer satisfaction – for a long, long time.

I saw something very different from the Old World – without so much focus on profitability. I developed a philosophy “Build It and They Will Come.” (yeah, maybe I lifted this from somewhere in popular culture). I theorized that by first focusing on putting into place the people and the infrastructure (aka the mousetrap), a firm could then more effectively grow because it would have the bandwidth.

In the Old World, we were in constant need of resources and this became an obstacle to growth. Not that I didn’t try, my employers could never see past the upfront cost of this strategy….and so here I am. While I remain firmly rooted in this New World dream, I have come to realize that running a business is wicked hard and I have a newfound respect for anybody that tries.
